The grass verges needs cutting badly and County Highways never did jet the blocked culvert outside my property.
Conservatives win 509 to 325 in 48% turnout. One must congratulate Paul Jarvis and his hard working team who in his absence in hospital conducted a strong campaign. We hope Paul will be able to return to full health for his own sake and so as to take his seat.
Our candidate, Allis Moss, did a sterling job, throwing herself into the campaign, canvassing extensively and pressing the flesh wherever she could. As campaign organiser I must take responsibility for the offence caused by some of our literature which was, rightly deemed to be ageist and not very tactfully so. But there were other factors including the state of the national party over which we had no control.
My thanks to all helpers, whether as leaflet distributors or tellers, who helped with the campaign. Without their help we could not have conducted it as we did.
