Had to contact Langmead Farms re positioning of gas gun and late night gun shots. Prompt response. For two days road was closed for connecting power supply. What a difference it made to walking along the lane.
Pygmalion at CFT. Great production, good acting, packed house, mostly wrinklies as usual. On the whole the musical version is the better one. Prof Higgins is very unsympathetic in the play. No catharsis, no redemption.
Problem of contamination of burgundy bin recyclate. Some residents are becoming forgetful or are confused about what may and may not be put in the burgundy bin. It's easy to forget and lose track of what may be recycled. The main contaminants are plastic bags, plastic containers eg yoghurt pots and food trays.
But in some bins have been found: used nappies, garden waste, fuel cans, clothing, large plastic toys, food waste especially curry, general household waste, garden hose pipes, garden seat cushions and empty drums used for corrosive chemicals. Some freighter loads delivered to the Materials Recycling Facility have been rejected with considerable cost to county.
I have recommended that a Sort it letter be sent all residents reminding them of what can and cannot be recycled. If you keep, as you should, your annual schedule for the dates for collections, on the back of the card you will find what can be recycled.
Every year there is a significant number of newcomers to the district who have come from other authorities who may have broader or narrower range of what can be recycled. This can cause confusion.
Returned after a week at the Center Parcs site at Longleat. Surprised to notice the proportion of people of all ages, especially young to middle aged men and children, who are obese. We are concerned about obesity in the district. Something for my scrutiny committee to get to grips with perhaps.
